It is surprising that there are still young girls in some of our local Nigerian communities who know nothing about what to do when experiencing their menstruation. This is because their mothers or other relatives have not disclosed to them about what to do when faced with this situation.

Some of the things we take for granted in the developed world, like toilet facilities at public schools and classroom blocks with actual doors and windows are huge challenges in public schools across locales in Nigeria. It is always disheartening to see and hear stories of young students learning under such horrible conditions

In keeping up with its mission to inspire young folks in our mother continent to play a more active part in improving society, Selfless 4 Africa teamed up with the Global Shapers Community – Abuja Hub in May 2015 to implement the hub's Emerging Leaders Program to enable students in institutions of higher education in Nigeria present ideas on charitable projects that will best benefit their local communities, with the winning proposal garnering sponsorship for implementation of their project.
